Job summary

Kensa in Truro is seeking an R&D Test Engineer to join our Research and Development team. You'll work with electro-mechanical equipment and prototypes to help develop low-carbon heating technology, on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

You’ll carry out R&D tests, calibrate equipment and build simple test rigs, diagnosing faults and collaborating with engineers to align test plans with project needs. The role suits practical problem-solvers with a hands-on approach.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail in testing and practical work.
• Ability to grasp new concepts and apply them in practice.
• Organised and tidy approach to work and workspace.
• Practical skills and confidence using hand tools.
• Some practical experience with electro-mechanical equipment.
• Brazing and soldering experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Carry out R&D tests and monitor their progress in line with agreed test plans.
• Oversee the calibration and maintenance of testing equipment.
• Build and operate simple test rigs to support development work.
• Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults on prototypes and equipment.
• Collaborate with R&D engineers to ensure test plans align with project requirements.
