Job summary

Kensa, a UK-based heating technology company, is seeking a Group Financial Controller to lead financial control, reporting, compliance and accounting across the group. This senior role sits at the heart of the Finance function, partnering with leadership to drive robust governance and high-quality information.

You will oversee month-end close, consolidated reporting, statutory compliance and audit work, while developing the finance team and improving controls in a fast-growing, purpose-driven

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Experience in senior financial control or group accounting.
• Experience in multi-entity or fast-growing organisations.
• Experience in audits, statutory reporting and compliance.
• Demonstrable leadership of a high-performing finance team.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Experience improving processes and controls in ERP environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Group's month-end and year-end close, with consolidated reporting.
• Maintain and improve financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Ensure statutory compliance and manage external audits.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, banking, payroll interfaces and GL.
• Strengthen balance sheet controls, reconciliations and audit-ready documentation.
• Improve cash management, cash flow reporting and treasury processes.
• Provide technical accounting support to operational teams and senior leaders.
• Partner with FP&A to align actuals and forecasts.
• Support major projects and strategic initiatives.
• Lead, coach and develop the finance team.
• Identify opportunities to automate and standardise finance processes.
• Integrate financial and operational systems as the group scales.

We're looking for a Group Financial Controller to lead financial control, reporting, compliance and accounting across the Kensa Group. This is a senior, influential role at the heart of our Finance function, providing the robust governance and high-quality information we need to grow sustainably.

The role

As Group Financial Controller, you'll lead the Group's month-end and year-end close, consolidated financial reporting, statutory compliance and audit activity. You'll oversee transactional finance, balance sheet control, cash management and treasury processes, ensuring accurate, timely and audit-ready information across all entities.

You'll work closely with the Finance Director, FP&A, Commercial Finance and Leadership teams, translating complex financial information into clear insight while maintaining the controls, systems and processes that underpin effective decision-making. You'll also lead and develop the finance team, creating clarity, accountability and opportunities for growth.

What you'll be doing

• Leading the Group's month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely results
• Overseeing consolidated financial statements and reporting in line with relevant accounting standards
• Maintaining and continuously improving financial policies, procedures and internal control frameworks
• Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, tax obligations and external audit processes
• Managing relationships with external auditors and coordinating audit work across all entities
• Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, payroll interfaces and the general ledger
• Maintaining robust balance sheet controls, reconciliations and audit-ready documentation
• Strengthening cash management, cash flow reporting and treasury processes
• Providing technical accounting support and clear financial insight to operational teams and senior leaders
• Partnering with FP&A to align actuals, forecasts and business performance
• Supporting the financial aspects of major projects, investments and strategic initiatives
• Leading, coaching and developing the finance team, with clear expectations and effective performance management
• Identifying opportunities to automate, streamline and standardise finance processes across the Group
• Improving the integration of financial and operational systems as Kensa continues to scale

What we're looking for

You'll be a credible and collaborative finance leader who combines strong technical knowledge with a practical, improvement-focused approach. You'll be comfortable operating at both strategic and detailed levels, managing competing deadlines and communicating clearly with stakeholders across the organisation.

Skills and experience:

• Professional accounting qualification - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
• Proven experience in a senior financial control or group accounting role, ideally within a multi-entity or fast-growing organisation
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience preparing consolidated group financial statements
• Experience managing audits, statutory reporting and compliance requirements
• Demonstrable leadership experience, with the ability to develop and manage a high-performing finance team
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail
• Confidence using financial systems and ERPs, including experience improving processes and controls
• The ability to explain complex financial information clearly to a range of audiences
• Strong organisation and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• A clear commitment to accuracy, integrity, collaboration and continuous improvement
