Job description

Join us at Barclays as an R&D Research Analyst, where you'll lead the development of our digital landscape, fostering innovation and excellence. You will be a key member of our Cyber Fraud Fusion Center, providing scalable services to disrupt and prevent upstream economic crime.

To be successful as an R&D Research Analyst, you will need:

  • Create and manage fraud rules, models, and controls to optimize fraud detection strategies and policies. Knowledge of rule creation for Mules, Account Takeover, and Scams within leading fraud tools is preferred.
  • Engage with vendors and internal teams to evaluate and manage fraud detection tools.
  • Analyze large datasets, including internal and external intelligence, fraud, and business data, to support cybercrime root cause analysis.
  • Understand malicious attack vectors used by cyber fraud adversaries, such as Device Spoofing, Location Manipulation, Identity Fraud, and Account Takeover.
  • Practical experience with AWS, Python, Relational databases (Postgres, MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL), SAS PROC SQL, Hue, Teradata, and Hadoop.

Additional valued skills include:

  • Knowledge of security frameworks like NIST and cyber-attack phases.
  • Experience with analytical tools such as SQL, SAS, Hue, Hive, Quantexa, Elastic Search, Tableau, and Power BI.
  • Understanding of cyber fraud attack vectors.
  • Ability to escalate risks using data visualization.
  • Collaborate with governance teams to ensure proper documentation and controls.

The role is based in Knutsford or Northampton.

Purpose of the role: To monitor and manage security controls, respond to threats, and protect the bank from cyber-attacks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing security systems to detect and respond to incidents.
  • Identifying emerging threats and collaborating to enhance knowledge.
  • Analyzing security logs and alerts.
  • Managing data loss prevention and cyber security incidents.
