Job summary

Agilent Technologies, Inc. in the Oxford/Harwell area is seeking an experienced R&D Manager to lead software teams in delivering next-generation Raman software products.

You will manage operations within the Raman software portfolio, ensure lifecycle discipline, and coordinate with global partners to integrate hardware and software across platforms. The role emphasizes mentoring software engineers, driving innovation, and solving complex engineering challenges in a regulated instrument

Qualifications

• Experience leading technical teams as a project or people manager.
• Experience in design and development of commercial software on Microsoft or Linux platforms with modern architecture technologies (containerization, Kubernetes, microservices, messaging systems, or web technologies).
• Strong software engineering and development experience including software development processes, DevSecOps, CI, and cloud deployment.
• Experience with software development for regulated environments (21 CFR Part 11) would be advantageous.

As a member of the Productivity and Solutions Division, you will contribute directly to the delivery of software solutions to support our Raman Spectroscopy instrument product line. Working from the Laser Spectroscopy Center of Excellence (LSCE) in Oxford (Harwell) UK, you will be managing a team of dedicated software engineers as we deliver our software roadmap and support our best-in-class vibrational (IR and Raman) spectroscopy instruments. **Key responsibilities:*** Lead the development and implementation of the next-generation Raman software products.* Responsible for the overall operations in the assigned R&D area of responsibility, including adherence to a well-defined software product lifecycle and alignment with broader strategic initiatives.* Actively work to solve engineering and research challenges and lead investigations through to resolution.* Work closely with internal and external development partners around the globe to integrate hardware and software solutions.* Develop and mentor software team members, driving a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and the delivery of trusted answers. ## ## **Qualifications** **Technical experience:*** Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams as a project or people manager.* Experience in design and development of commercial software products on Microsoft or Linux platforms with modern architecture technologies such as containerization, Kubernetes, microservices, messaging systems, or web technologies.* Strong software engineering and development experience including software development, issue management, DevSecOps, continuous integration, or cloud deployment.* Experience with software development for 21 CFR Part 11-compliant or regulated environments would be advantageous. **Soft skills:*** Proven leadership, strong communication and interpersonal skills. **Additional Details**This job has a full time weekly schedule.Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
