Heidelberg Materials AG is seeking a Quarry Operative at Batts Combe Quarry in Cheddar. The role is entry-level with full training provided, offering a hands-on working day and the opportunity to progress into multi-skilled plant operations.

You'll join a Safety-focused team, perform weighbridge duties, process tickets, support site administration, and help maintain efficient operations while building a long-term career with a global building materials leader.

Responsibilities

• Operate the quarry weighbridge for all incoming and outgoing vehicles.
• Process delivery tickets, sales orders, customer accounts, and waste documents.
• Provide a professional and welcoming experience for drivers, customers, contractors and visitors.
• Collaborate with supervisors, transport providers, and site teams to support operations.
• Maintain accurate records and administrative systems.
• Ensure vehicle compliance and site access requirements are met.
• Report safety concerns, incidents and near misses promptly.
• Support general site administration and operations as required.

No previous quarry experience is required. We're looking for enthusiastic, reliable individuals with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Full training will be provided, along with the opportunity to develop into a Multi-Skilled Operative, gaining experience across both mobile and static plant operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a varied role that combines customer interaction, administration, and operational support. Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating the quarry weighbridge for all incoming and outgoing vehicles.
• Processing delivery tickets, sales orders, customer accounts, and waste transfer documentation accurately.
• Providing a professional and welcoming experience for drivers, customers, contractors, and visitors.
• Working closely with supervisors, transport providers, and site teams to support efficient operations.
• Maintaining accurate records and administrative systems.
• Ensuring vehicle compliance and site access requirements are met.
• Reporting safety concerns, incidents, and near misses promptly.
• Supporting general site administration and operational activities as required.
• Following all Heidelberg Materials Health & Safety, Environmental, and Compliance procedures.
