Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK is seeking a Quarry Operative at Batts Combe Quarry in Cheddar. No previous quarry experience is required; full training will be provided and you can progress into a Multi-Skilled Operative.

The role combines customer interaction, administration and hands-on operations, with 39.5 hours a week and regular overtime opportunities. You’ll join a team at a global leader in building materials, with a focus on safety, reliability, and developing valuable skills for long-term

Salary: Competitive Starting Salary + Weekly Bonus + Overtime Opportunities
Hours: 39.5 hours per week | 5:45am - 4:45pm | Overtime Available

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a varied role that combines customer interaction, administration, and operational support. Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating the quarry weighbridge for all incoming and outgoing vehicles.

• Processing delivery tickets, sales orders, customer accounts, and waste transfer documentation accurately.

• Providing a professional and welcoming experience for drivers, customers, contractors, and visitors.

• Working closely with supervisors, transport providers, and site teams to support efficient operations.

• Maintaining accurate records and administrative systems.

• Ensuring vehicle compliance and site access requirements are met.

• Reporting safety concerns, incidents, and near misses promptly.

• Supporting general site administration and operational activities as required.

• Following all Heidelberg Materials Health & Safety, Environmental, and Compliance procedures.

• Previous experience in a weighbridge, logistics, transport, administration, or customer service role would be beneficial, but is not essential.
