Job summary

Breedon Group plc is seeking an Assistant Quarry Manager for Blinkbonny Quarry, Kelso. You will report to the Quarry Manager and help oversee day-to-day production activities, uphold safety and environmental standards, and support colleagues and contractors to maintain efficiency and quality.

The role requires strong leadership, a solid understanding of quarrying processes, and proficiency with quarry management systems and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of quarrying processes and plant operations.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Competence in using quarry management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and scheduling production including blasting, crushing, screening and stockpiling to high standards.
• Assist Quarry Manager to meet production targets safely and efficiently within budget.
• Participate in quality control to ensure materials meet standards.
• Monitor and maintain equipment via preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Keep records of materials produced, stock levels, maintenance and safety incidents.
• Support budgeting, cost control, and inventory management of consumables and spare parts.
• Provide input for long-term planning including quarry development and rehabilitation.
• Supervise quarry colleagues and contractors, assigning duties and promoting teamwork.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Support safety programs and conduct inspections and risk assessments.
