Job summary

Imperial College London in London, United Kingdom, invites applications for a Research Associate in Quantum Computation. You will lead projects to develop a full-stack approach to suppressing errors in quantum hardware, integrating hardware-level noise suppression, error mitigation, and fault-tolerant concepts.

The role collaborates with experimental partners and industry, with access to HPC resources and cloud-based quantum hardware for simulations and verification.

Qualifications

• A PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research / industrial experience.
• Practical experience within a research environment and publication in relevant and refereed journals / conferences in the field of quantum computation.
• Experience of dealing with industry partners and research collaborators.
• Experience of error correction simulation using packages like Stim and/or conducting large quantum circuit simulation and experience of scientific programming involving HPC or GPU systems; experience of participating in collaborative software projects; use of GitHub or similar are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects aimed at developing a full-stack approach to suppressing errors in quantum hardware.
• Contribute to theoretical research on quantum architectures, compilation, and scalable quantum systems.
• Collaborate with experimental partners and industry for joint activities and visits.
• Perform analytical work and numerical computations with access to HPC and cloud-based quantum hardware.
