Job summary

Imperial College London invites applications for a Research Associate in Quantum Computation. The role focuses on developing a full-stack approach to suppressing errors in quantum hardware, integrating hardware-level suppression, error mitigation, and fault-tolerant concepts.

The ideal candidate will contribute to cutting-edge theoretical research, with opportunities to engage with industry partners and to perform analytical and numerical work using high-performance computing resources.

Qualifications

• A PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research/industrial experience.
• Publications in quantum computation in refereed journals or conferences.
• Experience with industry partners and research collaborators.
• Experience of error-correction simulation using packages like Stim and/or large quantum circuit simulations; experience with collaborative software projects; GitHub or similar desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects developing a full-stack approach to suppressing errors in quantum hardware.
• Engage with experimental partners including industry collaborators.
• Balance analytical research with numerical computations and utilize HPC/cloud resources for simulations.
