Job summary

WYPF in Bradford is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the Corporate Resources Department within Built Environment. The role supports the Senior Quantity Surveyor and manages tenders, estimates, and interim/final accounts up to about £1m, with some projects beyond.

You will work with the commercial team to develop policies, supervise junior staff, and ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of construction works.

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor in managing the Quantity Surveying Service.
• Prepare and submit all trades tenders, quotations, and estimates up to about £1m.
• Negotiate interim and final accounts up to £500k in line with Contract Standing Orders.
• Contribute to development of policies and strategies affecting the section.
• Work with other construction professionals to deliver surveying and estimating service.
• Regularly review and report on performance of construction contracts.
• Collaborate with Client’s Design Team and Operational Management to meet standards.
• Represent the authority in negotiations with external clients or contractors.
• Interpret and produce Contractual Documentation to prepare tenders.
• Manage and prioritise own workload.
• Provide contract administrator role when required.
• Instruct, supervise, and provide technical expertise to contractors.
• Supervise junior team members.
• Measure and value all works including variations.
• Ensure security of confidential information.
