Job summary

DYWIDAG is seeking a recently qualified Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial Team. Based primarily in Bury, you will support pre-contract and post-contract commercial activities across repair, strengthening, SHM and geotechnical projects, preparing competitive tenders and contributing to financial management.

You will liaise with clients and subcontractors, develop cost build-ups, monitor budgets and assist in contract administration.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline.
• Recently qualified Quantity Surveyor or early-career commercial professional.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial principles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to sites and other company locations.

Responsibilities

• Review ITT, specifications, drawings and supporting documentation.
• Prepare detailed estimates and pricing submissions from first principles.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Develop labour, plant, material and subcontract cost build-ups.
• Identify project risks and opportunities and incorporate into tender submissions.
• Assist in the preparation of programmes, methodologies and commercial submissions.
• Ensure tender submissions are completed accurately and submitted on time.
• Maintain comprehensive records and supporting documentation for all estimates and bids.
• Liaise with operational, technical and engineering teams to develop competitive proposals.
• Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment.
• Assess the value of work completed and monitor project performance against budget.
• Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts, including payment assessments and certification.
• Prepare, negotiate and agree variations and compensation events.
• Support project teams with contract administration and commercial advice.
• Produce Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) for larger projects.
• Monitor project costs, revenue and forecast margins.
• Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets and forecasts.
• Support the management of contractual notices and documentation.
• Contribute to project reviews and financial reporting processes.
• Build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers and operational teams.
• Participate in internal project reviews and commercial meetings.
• Provide commercial support across multiple business units and project teams.
