Job summary

Ian Williams Ltd in Birmingham seeks a qualified Quantity Surveyor to join our established painting and refurbishment team. You will tender, estimate, measure costs, and manage commercial risks across public and housing sector contracts while building strong client and supplier relationships.

You will work with the Contracts Manager to set productivity targets, monitor labour, and ensure commercial viability of variations. Teamwork, integrity, and entrepreneurial spirit are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Proven surveying experience in painting/refurbishment sector.
• Experience in tendering and estimation from tender to final account.
• Strong commercial and analytical mindset.

Responsibilities

• Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders.
• Prepare cost value reconciliations and identify risks.
• Coordinate with Contracts Manager to set labour targets and monitor performance.
• Build client, supplier, and subcontractor relationships to negotiate variations.
• Analyse weekly site reports for cost information and progress.
