Job summary

Tarmac Building Products Ltd is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor (Maternity Cover) to support projects across the South West & South Wales region. The role can be based in Kington, Hendy or Stancombe and is commutable from Bristol, Miskin, Pontyclun, Cardiff, Newport and surrounding areas.

You will report to the Managing Quantity Surveyor and bring NEC contract experience, strong numeracy and proactive problem-solving to manage contract financials, CVRs and payments while collaborating

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent (HND or QBE accepted).
• Experience using NEC contracts.
• Strong numeracy and analytical ability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Record, monitor and review the financial performance of contracts.
• Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment and final accounts.
• Prepare monthly CVRs and forecasts (internal and client-facing).
• Secure payments from customers within contract terms.
• Subcontract procurement and management of subcontractor accounts.
• Ensure compliance with processes to mitigate commercial risk.
• Issue early warning notices and manage compensation events.

We are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor (Maternity Cover) to join ourteam supporting projects across the?South West & South Wales region. This role can be based in our Kington, Hendy or Stancombe locations. This role is commutable from Bristol, Miskin, Pontyclun, Cardiff, Newport and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you'll ideally bring experience from similar sectors such as Highways, Road Infrastructure, Paving, Surfacing, or Civil Engineering.

Key responsibilities for the role of Quantity Surveyor (Maternity Cover) will include:

• Recording, monitoring and reviewing the financial performance of contracts
• Preparing and submitting monthly applications for payment and final accounts.
• Preparation of monthly CVRs and forecasts (internal and client-facing)
• Securing?payments from customers within the specified contract terms
• Subcontract procurement and management of subcontractor accounts
• Ensuring compliance with Tarmac and client processes to mitigate commercial risk
• Issuing early warning notices and managing compensation events

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Quantity Surveyor (Maternity Cover) will be educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying, but we also welcome candidates with HND or those qualified by experience (QBE).

Suitable candidates for the role of Quantity Surveyor (Maternity Cover) will also have:

• A passion for safety
• Experience of using the NEC forms of contract
• Drive and ambition to succeed
• Good interpersonal skills as well as good oral and written communication skills
• Proven problem-solving skills
• Numeracy and analytical ability
• Willingness to travel between sites as required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Organisational ability
• Customer focus and the ability to build relationships.
• Good IT skills specifically on spreadsheets, databases and the ability to adapt to bespoke software packages
