Interaction Construction seeks a dependable Quantity Surveyor/Estimator for its North Devon contracts. The role is full-time and on-site in Barnstaple, offering progression in a growing contracting team and responsibilities from cost estimation to value engineering.

The candidate will manage budgets, liaise across design and build teams, and ensure financial accuracy and timely payments, with a client-focused, proactive approach.

Formación

• Proven experience in quantity surveying or estimating in commercial construction.
• Strong cost control principles and budgeting abilities.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Outstanding communication and negotiation capabilities.
• Driving licence is essential and ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for projects from £100k to £10m.
• Work with bid teams during estimating and tendering processes.
• Analyse drawings and specifications to inform cost planning.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Monitor progress and provide regular cost reports; identify value engineering opportunities.
• Review and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors and process payments.
• Undertake monthly valuations and monitor project payments.
• Conduct site visits to verify quantities and progress.

Salary:£55,000 per annum, dependent on experience

They are currently seeking a dependable and motivated Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their thriving Contracting team in North Devon.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to perform effectively under pressure, meet deadlines reliably, and demonstrate confidence in using their own initiative.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for commercial construction projects, typically ranging from £100,000 to £10 million.
• Collaborate effectively as part of a bid team during the estimating and tendering process.
• Analyse and interpret project specifications, drawings, and tender documentation.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure precise cost planning.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular, detailed cost reports.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend suitable value-engineering solutions.
• Review, negotiate, and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, including processing and payment of accounts.
• Undertake monthly valuations and monitor project payments to ensure financial accuracy.
• Conduct site visits to assess progress and verify quantities.
• Monitor project expenditure to help ensure delivery within agreed budgets.
• Support the successful commercial delivery of projects while maintaining high standards of quality.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or in a similar commercial construction role.
• Experience in both quantity surveying and estimating is highly desirable.
• Minimum of three years' experience in surveying and/or estimating.
• Strong understanding of construction cost control principles and techniques.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Meticulous attention to detail and high accuracy.
• Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Effective at managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Possession of a full driving licence is essential.
• Experience with 4PS Construct is advantageous.
