Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join Building Solutions North based in Leeds or Sheffield. You will contribute to maximizing project profitability by managing commercial resources across refurbishments, small new builds, and high-rise works valued between £5m and £15m.

Based in Leeds or Sheffield, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, prepare cost plans, manage subcontractor procurement, and produce monthly forecasts while supporting cash flow and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• Clear communication with multidisciplinary teams, clients, subcontractors, and supply chain.
• Qualification in Quantity Surveying (Degree or HNC desirable).
• Demonstrable experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and use initiative.
• Proficiency in IT packages including Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to bespoke software systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial resources to maximise gross margin through contract and subcontract placement and control.
• Tender, evaluate, and appoint subcontractors, consultants and place orders for materials and plant within delegated authorities.
• Identify, evaluate and negotiate variations to contracts with customers and suppliers.
• Measure and value work to support invoicing customers and payment to suppliers, while managing cash flow.
• Produce monthly reports and forecasts, assess commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
