Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our civil engineering team delivering major infrastructure projects for UK electricity transmission. The role is based on-site in Peterhead with activity at our Kilsyth head office, offering real impact from day one and clear career progression.

You will manage cost, commercial risk and subcontractor relationships, mentor junior staff, and contribute to project strategy through monthly reports and tender activity.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor with strong commercial skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with project teams and clients.
• Willingness to support and mentor others within the commercial function.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word for cost reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, Managing QS, and engineers.
• Mentor junior commercial staff and aid their development.
• Provide commercial input in meetings with client representatives and supply chain partners.
• Lead cost reporting, tender inputs, and subcontract management, including payments and final accounts.
• Manage site resources cost and produce monthly cost and value reports.
