Job summary

Futurebuild Recruitment is seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established main contractor on a prestigious £25m project in Brighton, East Sussex. The role is on-site, supporting commercial management from current stage through to completion and coordinating with the delivery team.

You will manage subcontractor procurement, valuations and payments, monitor costs and variations, and assist with cost reporting and final accounts.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor.
• Experience working on new-build and/or refurbishment projects.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to protect the contractor's commercial interests while maintaining constructive relationships with subcontractors.
• Experience managing valuations and payments.
• Experience with cost reporting and final accounts.

Quantity Surveyor - Main Contractor

Location: Brighton, East Sussex

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000+ (depending on experience)

Contract: Permanent or Freelance

Project Value: £25 million

We are recruiting for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established, medium-sized main contractor delivering a prestigious £25m project at one of Brighton's leading private schools.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced and long-standing project team on a high-profile scheme combining new-build construction with significant refurbishment works too.

The Project

The £25m contract is already underway, with completion scheduled for February 2028. Works include:

• Construction of two new four-storey student accommodation blocks.
• Structural alterations and cut-and-carve works to existing buildings.
• Internal refurbishment and conversion of existing properties into staff accommodation.

The successful candidate will be based on site, working alongside an established delivery team and reporting directly to an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor.

The Role

• Support the commercial management of the project from its current stage through to completion.

Candidate Requirements

• A professional, commercially astute and collaborative approach.
