Job summary

Future Build Recruitment Limited in Brighton is seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established main contractor on a prestigious £25m project at a leading private school. You’ll be based on site, supporting the commercial team from current stage through to completion.

The role covers subcontractor procurement, cost control, valuations and final accounts, reporting to the Senior QS. A collaborative approach and strong negotiation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor.
• Experience on new-build and/or refurbishment projects.
• Good understanding of subcontractor management, procurement and commercial reporting.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Contract: Permanent or Freelance

We are recruiting for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established, medium-sized main contractor delivering a prestigious £25m project at one of Brighton's leading private schools.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced and long-standing project team on a high-profile scheme combining new-build construction with significant refurbishment works too.

The Project

The £25m contract is already underway, with completion scheduled for February 2028. Works include:

• Construction of two new four-storey student accommodation blocks.
• Structural alterations and cut-and-carve works to existing buildings.
• Internal refurbishment and conversion of existing properties into staff accommodation.
• The successful candidate will be based on site, working alongside an established delivery team and reporting directly to an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor.

The Role

Candidate Requirements

• A professional, commercially astute and collaborative approach.
• Ability to protect the contractor's commercial interests whilst maintaining constructive relationships with subcontractors.
