Job summary

CSR (NI) LIMITED is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to control costs on a £10M civil engineering project in the Dartford region. You will manage valuations, cost reporting, subcontract procurement, and administration of subcontractor accounts.

The role involves change management, risk assessment, and maintaining cost registers with strong emphasis on commercial performance and contract compliance. NEC experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• NEC contracts experience and cost-control focus.
• Strong commercial acumen with knowledge of contract forms and measurement.
• Excellent communication, presentations, and negotiation skills.
• Experience in construction/engineering with a commercial background.
• General Civils project experience and QS background.

Responsibilities

• Prepare internal commercial reporting and valuations with supporting docs.
• Prepare and submit valuations/applications for payment per contract terms.
• Create cost reports for the client with contract-compliant docs.
• Manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administer subcontractor accounts from requisitions to final accounts.
• Conduct contract administration including change management and registers.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities, VE and change.
• Utilise the costing system and related tools.
• Produce internal reporting as required.

Job description

CSR is working with a specialist Civil Engineering contractor with projects throughout the UK.

They are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible for controlling costs for our Projects making sure that structures meet legal and quality standards. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved at every stage of a project. You will be based in the Dartford region and involved on a £10M project.

Some of your duties will include:

• Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required
• Preparation of valuations/applications for payment with supporting documentation in accordance with the contract.
• Preparation of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
• Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
• Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Utilise the costing system.
• Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.

To be successful in this position the Senior Quantity Surveyor must have:

• Relevant Industry Qualification
• Commercially astute with knowledge of standard forms of contract and standard methods of measurement.
• Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint).
• Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade others.
• Experience within a construction/engineering industry and commercial background.
• General Civils experience.
• Have at least 2-3 years QS experience - ideally in NEC contracts
