Job summary

Padstone Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor for residential refurbishment projects around London and Kent. Office-based or hybrid options available, with attendance at head office meetings as required.

The role involves estimating, tendering, cost forecasting, tender package preparation, and cost-control across multiple contracts. Candidates should have a QS accredited qualification and experience in buying or QS within construction.

Qualifications

• Full QS accreditation or degree in quantity surveying.
• Experience in buying or quantity surveying in construction.
• Experience administering main contractor or client accounts to final agreement.
• Knowledge of residential construction market.

Responsibilities

• Assist with estimating and tendering processes.
• Produce forecasts of project cost to completion and final value.
• Prepare tender packages for main contractor and subcontract works.
• Monitor costs to completion in line with budget.
• Identify, value and issue variation orders with the customer.
• Manage subcontractor accounts per terms and conditions.
• Vet tenders and handle variations/claims.
• Produce monthly contract reports including cash flow forecasts.
• Provide input in construction project meetings.

Quantity Surveyor

We are currently looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing residential refurbishment firm based around London and Kent projects. Fully office based or hybrid schemes available.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional individual to become established within a highly regarded construction client based in Kent. 5 days a week but expected to attend head office meetings as well.

The qs role

• Help with estimating and tendering process.
• Produce and provide accurate forecasts of project cost to completion and final value.
• Preparing tender packages for main contractor and subcontract works.
• Continually monitor projected costs to completion in line with budget.
• Ensure contract variations are identified, valued and turned into agreed variation orders with the customer in a timely manner.
• Ensure that each sub-contractors account is managed strictly in accordance with their terms and conditions.
• Vetting tenders.
• Variations and claims - facilitate the resolution of disputes relating to outstanding payments to subcontractors and creditors.
• Producing monthly contract reports detailing current status of the contracts, including cash flow forecasts and liabilities.
• Provide input in construction project commercial/legal/strategic meetings.

Candidates must have

• Own transport to commute to office.
• A full or new QS accredited qualification.
• Experience in Buying or Quantity Surveying related to construction.
• Experience in administering main contractor or client accounts to final agreement, with a successful run of closures of these accounts with the client.
• Knowledge of the residential and construction market.
