Job summary

Arise Recruit Ltd is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a Kent-based main contractor with sites across London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex. You will manage pre-contract and post-contract commercial activities, ensuring financial alignment with project teams.

The role involves tender evaluation, cost control, variances, and final accounts, with opportunities for career progression within a busy regional contractor. A UK driving licence is essential and travel to sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor.
• Strong knowledge of JCT contracts (Traditional & Design & Build).
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar (desirable).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ideally based within 45 minutes of Tunbridge Wells.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Pre-Construction Manager and Estimator on tendering.
• Prepare interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Issue contractual notices and manage correspondence with subcontractors.
• Measure and value subcontractor works on site and monitor costs.
• Attend site and progress meetings with clients and stakeholders and report to senior management.

Quantity Surveyor

Location: Kent based office with sites in London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Main Contractor, projects £2M-£15M.

We are a well‑established regional contractor delivering high‑quality projects across Kent, Sussex, Surrey and South London. With a strong pipeline of secured work—including local authority, commercial, schools and housing association frameworks—and a solid base of repeat private clients, this business offers stability and progression.

The Quantity Surveyor Role

Involved across the full project lifecycle, from tender through to final account, working closely with both pre‑construction and delivery teams.

Pre‑Contract & Tender Stage

• Collaborate with the Pre‑Construction Manager and Estimator
• Identify risks, opportunities, and cost efficiencies in tenders

Commercial Management & Cost Control

• Prepare interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
• Issue contractual notices and manage correspondence
• Measure and value subcontractor works on site
• Monitor costs, forecast performance, and report to senior management
• Identify and implement value engineering opportunities

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
• Attend site and progress meetings, providing commercial input
• Work closely with project teams to ensure financial alignment
• Represent the business professionally at all times

About You

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor
