Job summary

Fortem Solutions in Stratford-upon-Avon seeks a driven Quantity Surveyor to join the Orbit Housing contract. You will report to the Commercial Manager, supervise junior staff, and work within a team of 10 on planned works including re-roofing and kitchen/bathroom replacements.

You will manage costs, maximise cash flow, and ensure accurate reporting with IT tools like Excel and Connect, while applying NHF SOR norms and delivering value for money across the supply chain.

Qualifications

• Previous Quantity Surveying experience.
• QS degree or relevant experience will be considered.
• Excellent IT knowledge including a high level of Excel skills.
• Full UK driving licence for travel to working site locations.

Responsibilities

• Secure full entitlement within contract parameters and commercial negotiations.
• Ensure the project team achieves or exceeds budgeted targets.
• Manage the application schedule of rates, acting as SME for contractual arrangements.
• Maximise cash flow through monthly invoicing and resolving client queries.
• Monitor job cost against revenue and support data-driven decisions.
• Assist Commercial Manager with CVR/CVC and management accounts reporting.

Here at Fortem Solutions we're currently recruiting for a driven and professional Quantity Surveyor to join our Orbit Housing contract, based in the office in Stratford-upon-Avon.As Quantity Surveyor you will report to the Commercial Manager and work in partnership with Operations Management. You will be working as part of a team of 10 and acting as a competent figure within the surveying structure with responsibility for supervising more junior members of the team.This role will be working on our Planned works so if you are a Project Surveyor or QS skilled in refurbishment or elemental works in terms of Residential upgrades to social housing we would like to hear from you!Our planned work revenues can range from £1-15million in value and include works such as re- roofing, kitchen and bathroom replacements, window and door replacements and electrical test and inspection programmes

The Customer

Fortem’s contract with Orbit Housing covers over 17,000 houses across Stratford-upon-Avon, Coventry, Nuneaton, Northampton, Milton Keynes and Bedford. Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure the company secures its full entitlement within the parameters of the Contract and further commercial negotiations.
• Ensure the project team achieve or exceed budgeted targets.
• Responsible for the application schedule of rates (preference to NHF SOR’s) acting as a subject matter expert for contractual arrangements.
• Maximise cash flow through monthly invoicing, the implementation of appropriate procedures to resolve client queries and ensuring cash is received when due.
• Monitoring and analysis of management information and job cost against job revenue, supporting the operations and finance and enablement of data driven decision making
• Support the Commercial Manager in the preparation and timely reporting of information including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), Cost Value Comparison (CVC) and management accounts, providing governance of budgets through robust cost control.
• Ensure accurate reporting is fundamental to the role
• Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the company obtains value for money and receives the correct market value from the supply chain.
• Managing existing supply chain and local suppliers and using IT systems including Excel and Connect for regular data and reporting.

What you will need

Essential criteria:

• Previous Quantity Surveying experience
• QS degree or relevant experience will be considered
• Excellent IT knowledge including a high level of Excel skills (incl. V-Lookup, Pivot tables and formula development)
• Full UK driving licence for travel to working site locations
