Job summary

Fortem Solutions is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join the Stonewater Housing contract, based at the Chippenham office in Wiltshire. You will handle financial governance, cost control and commercial negotiations to maximise cash flow and ensure contractual entitlements.

The role requires a QS degree or equivalent training with at least 5 years of relevant contract experience, plus data interrogation and strong Excel capabilities. Driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• QS degree or equivalent training, or minimum 5 years contract experience.
• Strong data interrogation and Excel skills (V-Lookup, Pivot tables, formulas).
• Line management experience with negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
• Valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the company secures its full entitlement within the contract terms and pursue commercial negotiations.
• Manage the application schedule of rates as SME for contractual arrangements.
• Maximise cash flow through monthly invoicing and resolve client queries to ensure payments are received on time.
• Monitor management information and job cost against job revenue to support data-driven decisions.
• Ensure accurate cashflow forecasts and revenue profiles are in place and maintained.
• Prepare and produce financial reports (CVR, CVC, management accounts) and govern budgets with robust cost control.
• Ensure IT system integration between the client’s system and Fortem for productivity and controls.
• Set annual budgets with commercial leads and perform periodic reviews.

Here at Fortem Solutions we're looking to recruit a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our Stonewater Housing contract, based in the office in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

The Client

Our contract with Stonewater is long term with the option to extend the partnership again. On our contract we cover over 7,500 houses in 4 different areas of the South-West, from Taunton and Yeovil, over to Bristol and Swindon and down to Salisbury and Bournemouth. We currently deliver Repairs & Maintenance, Voids, Capital Works and an Electrical Service program. We pride ourselves on our great customer service and our senior leadership team has years of experience within this sector which can help you develop your learning and knowledge base.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

• Ensure the company secures its full entitlement within the parameters of the Contract and further commercial negotiations.
• Responsible for the application schedule of rates, acting as a subject matter expert for contractual arrangements.
• Maximise cash flow through monthly invoicing, the implementation of appropriate procedures to resolve client queries and ensuring cash is received when due.
• Monitoring and analysis of management information and job cost against job revenue, supporting the operations and finance and enablement of data driven decision making.
• Ensure Accurate Cashflow Forecasts and Revenue profiles are in place and are accurate and updated regularly.
• Prepare and produce financial reports, including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), Cost Value Comparison (CVC) and management accounts, providing governance of budgets through robust cost control.
• Ensure the IT integration between the client’s system and Fortem’s is aligned to increase productivity and financial controls in-line with the contract conditions.
• Ensure budgets are set and shared with the commercial leads annually along with carrying out full reviews periodically when required.

• QS degree or equivalent training or a minimum of 5 years relevant contract experience
