Role Description The Quantity Surveyor is a full-time, on-site role based in Stockport. This role is responsible for managing project costs from initial estimates through final accounts, ensuring projects are delivered within budget while meeting quality and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), cost plans, and budgets; monitoring expenditures; and updating cost reports for internal stakeholders and clients. The Quantity Surveyor will assess contract variations, support procurement and tender evaluations, and collaborate closely with project managers, design teams, and finance to maintain accurate financial records. The role also involves risk assessment related to cost, value engineering input, and contributing to continuous improvement in commercial processes.

Qualifications

• Strong cost management capabilities, including Cost Control and Cost Management skills.
• Experience in preparing and managing BOQ and Cost Planning documentation.
• Ability to produce clear and accurate Cost Reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
• Relevant experience in construction or façades/cladding projects, ideally within commercial or industrial sectors.
• Proficiency with quantity surveying and project costing software, as well as MS Excel.
• Solid understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and commercial risk.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally on-site.
• Degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction/commercial discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Professional membership or progression toward RICS or an equivalent body is an advantage.
