Job summary

Sphere Solutions are partnering with their client to recruit a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to ensure housing projects are delivered profitably and to the required standards of cost, time, quality, safety and environmental performance.

Based in St Austell, the role includes pre- and post-contract commercial support, tendering, valuations, variations and payments, with a focus on maintaining project profitability and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the house building industry.
• Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-contract commercial support across Major and Minor Works projects.
• Assist with tender preparation, including obtaining quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Manage valuations, variations, payments and contract documentation.
• Monitor project costs, financial performance, programme and quality to maintain targets.
• Ensure compliance with procedures, regulations and reporting.

The Role

Sphere Solutions are partnering with their client to recruit a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to ensure housing projects are delivered profitably and to the required standards of cost, time, quality, safety and environmental performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide effective pre- and post-contract commercial support across Major and Minor Works projects.
• Assist with tender preparation, including obtaining competitive subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Manage valuations, variations, payments and contract documentation, ensuring works are properly instructed and recorded.
• Monitor project costs, financial performance, programme and quality, taking action to maintain commercial targets.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, financial regulations, health & safety requirements and statutory obligations, while providing accurate commercial reporting.

Candidate Specification

• HNC or Equivalent level 5 qualification in building construction
• Experience of working as an quantity surveyor in the house building industry
• Have an understanding of the local supply chain
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and health and safety
• Extensive experience of how to delivery company profits
