Job summary

Ringway seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the National Highways contract team. You will manage subcontract accounts, prepare valuations and claims, and support cost control for maintenance and response works across the network.

You will work with the Commercial Manager, develop team members, and contribute to improved commercial performance and value for stakeholders. NEC knowledge is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Quantity surveying or civil engineering qualification, or significant relevant industry experience.
  • Minimum 4 years in the construction industry.
  • Experience managing valuations, payment applications and variations.
  • Knowledge of standard methods of measurement; MMHW experience is a plus.
  • Experience in rates build-up, cost control and commercial reporting.
  • Ability to prepare and analyse CVRs to improve performance.
  • Experience with NEC forms of contract desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage subcontractor accounts, ensuring timely payment notices and efficient final accounts.
  • Prepare and submit valuations and claims through client system with supporting docs.
  • Accurately measure completed works using as-built information and site records.
  • Collaborate with operations and supply chain to gather evidence and support valuations.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities through the contract lifecycle.
  • Support and develop Assistant Quantity Surveyors and other team members.
  • Contribute to improved commercial performance and value generation for stakeholders.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our award-winning National Highways contract team

Working closely with the Commercial Manager, you'll be responsible for managing subcontract accounts, preparing valuations and claims, supporting cost control activities, and ensuring the successful commercial delivery of maintenance and response works across the network

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing subcontractor accounts proactively, ensuring payment notices are issued on time and final accounts are agreed efficiently.
  • Preparing and submitting accurate valuations and claims through the client's Confirm system, including all supporting documentation.
  • Accurately measuring completed works using as-built information and site records in accordance with recognised methods of measurement.
  • Collaborating with operational teams and supply chain partners to gather evidence, support valuations and resolve client queries.
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Supporting and developing Assistant Quantity Surveyors and other members of the commercial team.
  • Contributing to improved commercial performance, efficiency savings and value generation for all stakeholders
Candidate Profile
  • A Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering qualification, or significant relevant industry experience.
  • At least 4 years' experience within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience managing valuations, payment applications and variations.
  • Strong knowledge of standard methods of measurement (experience of MMHW would be advantageous).
  • Experience in rates build-up, cost control and commercial reporting.
  • The ability to prepare and analyse CVRs to improve both commercial and operational performance.
  • Experience working under NEC forms of contract (desirable).
