Job summary

V7 Recruitment is seeking a Project Quantity Surveyor for a Preston-based role within a reputable tier one main contractor. You will take responsibility for the commercial management and delivery of an allocated project, working closely with clients, subcontractors and the project team.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Quantity Surveying, site-based construction experience, strong commercial understanding and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Site-based construction experience is required.
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding is essential.
  • Good knowledge of construction and contractual requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Pro-active approach with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good IT, reporting and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Taking responsibility for the financial and commercial control of the project.
  • Ensuring accurate forecasting, reporting and commercial administration.
  • Leading subcontractor procurement and placing subcontract orders.
  • Managing subcontractor payments, notices and payment schedules.
  • Maintaining procurement schedules, collateral warranty trackers and other commercial documentation.
  • Managing the main contract, amendments and associated contract documents.
  • Agreeing valuations, variations and general contract administration with clients.
  • Monitoring payments due and cash received to maximise project cash flow.
  • Attending and chairing risk meetings, identifying potential issues and putting mitigation plans in place.
  • Working closely with the project team to identify and resolve commercial issues at an early stage.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients and the supply chain.
  • Ensuring final accounts are resolved within the required timescales.
  • Supporting other members of the commercial team and promoting a collaborative working environment.
  • Ensuring company and regional commercial procedures are followed.
