Job summary

Time Recruitment Solutions Ltd is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor for a Lancashire-based main contractor. You will oversee commercial management on new build and refurbishment schemes, ensuring profitability and strong client relations.

Seeking an experienced QS with contract knowledge, negotiation skills, and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously. Driving licence and relevant qualification are required for this role in the North West region.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
  • Experience delivering new build and refurbishment projects.
  • Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract and commercial management.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong commercial awareness with attention to detail.
  • Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the commercial aspects of projects from tender award through final account.
  • Preparing cost plans, valuations, variations and financial reports.
  • Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers; preparing enquiry packages and tender analysis.
  • Negotiating subcontract agreements and managing subcontractor accounts.
  • Monitoring project costs, budgets and forecasts to maximise profitability.
  • Preparing interim payment applications and agreeing valuations with clients.
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborating with operations to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain.

Location: Preston, Lancashire

Salary: Up to £65,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits

Our client is a well-established Lancashire-based main contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across the North West. Operating across the Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Local Authority, Heritage and Leisure sectors, they are recognised for delivering projects to exceptional standards whilst building long-term relationships with their clients.

With a healthy pipeline of secured work through public sector frameworks and repeat business, they are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team. Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of new build and refurbishment projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with the Commercial Director, Project Managers and site teams, you will ensure projects are delivered profitably whilst maintaining strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.

This position would suit an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor background who enjoys managing multiple projects and being part of a close-knit commercial team delivering meaningful public sector schemes.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
  • Experience delivering new build and refurbishment projects.
