Job summary

Sir Robert McAlpine is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for a major project in Oxford, delivering state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities. You will work on procurement planning, tendering, contract administration and final accounts for subcontract packages, while focusing on cost control and value optimisation.

The role requires experience with large-scale projects and a background with Tier 1 contractors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or a related subject.
• Experience delivering large-scale major projects.
• Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor.

Responsibilities

• Input into Work Scope Documents and procurement of enabling works with client procurement teams.
• Manage procurement, tendering, contract administration, variations and final accounts for subcontract packages.
• Cost checking and analysis of labour, plant and materials to maximise value while minimising risk.
• Oversee commercial aspects across diverse sectors on major construction projects.

The Quantity Surveyor Role:

Ideally, you'll;

• be a recognised Quantity Surveyor with strong commercial awareness with a focus on profit and cash
• Working together to input into Work Scope Documents/ Procurement of Enabling Work Packages with the Client Procurement Team.
• have experience managing a range of commercial aspects including procurement, tendering, contract administration, variations and management of subcontract works packages through to final account.
• be keen to minimise risk, cost and maximise value by cost checking and analysis of labour, plant and materials.
• Broad construction industry experience covering many and various sectors and markets in commercial positions with industry main contracting organisations

Your profile

• Large scale major project experience
• Prior or current experience working for a Tier 1 contractor.
• Strategy – Can disseminate a breadth of internal and external data and apply sound judgement regarding the strategic direction of the business
• You will be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or a related subject
