Job summary

Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd seeks an experienced MEP Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of MEP packages on a landmark Oxford project. You will drive cost planning, procurement, subcontractor payments, valuations and variations, ensuring alignment with budgets and commercial objectives.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial aspects of MEP packages from pre-contract through post-contract.
• Lead cost planning, procurement, subcontractor payments, valuations and variations.
• Monitor cost reporting, forecasts and risk/opportunity analysis.
• Work with project leadership and supply chain to ensure budgets and objectives are met.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced MEP Quantity Surveyor to join our team and play a key role in managing the commercial aspects of the MEP packages throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with the project leadership team, MEP delivery teams and supply chain partners, you will support effective cost management, contractual administration and financial control, ensuring that packages are delivered in line with project budgets and commercial objectives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional to work on a landmark development, taking responsibility for cost planning, procurement, subcontractor payments, valuations, variations, change management and cost reporting. You will help identify commercial risks and opportunities, maintain accurate financial forecasts and build strong working relationships with subcontractors and the wider project team.

MEP Senior Quantity Surveyor role

• Experience as a recognised QS with strong commercial awareness with a focus on profit and cash
• Assist with the commercial packages for the MEP
• You will manage a range of commercial aspects including procurement, tendering, contract administration, variations and management of subcontract works packages through to final account.
• You'll be keen to minimise risk, cost and maximise value by cost checking and analysis of labour, plant and materials.

• Knowledge and experience in managing MEP packages
• Precontract through to post contract experience
• Large scale major project experience / Construction Management experience
• Strategy - Can disseminate a breadth of internal and external data and apply sound judgement regarding the strategic direction of the business
• You will be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or a related subject
• The successful candidate will have experience in quantity surveying within the MEP sector, ideally gained on large-scale, multidisciplinary construction projects. You will bring strong commercial and analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, technically complex environment.
