Job summary

Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd. are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing design & build contractor team in Maidstone, Kent. The role covers full commercial responsibility on residential projects from cost planning to final accounts, with site travel as required.

The successful candidate will manage procurement, valuations, variations and reporting, while applying value engineering to keep projects on budget and programme. Driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
• Experience on residential projects, ideally within a design & build environment.
• Strong procurement, cost management and contract administration knowledge.
• Experience with JCT and Design & Build contracts.
• Strong numerical, negotiation and communication skills.
• Commercially astute with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing within a team.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Take full commercial responsibility for residential projects from initial cost planning through to final accounts.
• Prepare cost estimates, Bills of Quantities and tender documentation.
• Procure materials and subcontractor packages, ensuring best value and programme alignment.
• Manage valuations, variations and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
• Carry out cost analysis and value engineering to optimise project budgets.
• Maintain robust cost control and accurate forecasting.
• Liaise closely with clients, subcontractors and internal project teams.
• Provide regular commercial updates to senior management.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing, family-run design & build contractor specialising in high-quality, bespoke residential projects across Kent and the surrounding areas. The company delivers a range of new builds, refurbishments and extensions, providing clients with a fully integrated service from concept through to completion. Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team with a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor who can take ownership of projects and support their successful delivery.

Quantity Surveyor - Role Overview*
