Job summary

Building Careers UK Ltd is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to take responsibility for the commercial management of groundworks packages across residential and housing projects in Liverpool.

The role requires experience in groundworks, cost control, forecasting, valuations and final accounts, with strong communication and procurement skills. This is a Liverpool-based opportunity with a clear path for progression within a growing specialist contractor.

Qualifications

• Groundworks/Residential housing project experience required.
• Experience managing groundworks packages and subcontractor accounts.
• Strong knowledge of cost control, forecasting, valuations and final accounts.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial performance of allocated groundworks projects.
• Preparing and monitoring CVRs, forecasts, and cost reports.
• Managing subcontract procurement and supplier accounts.
• Preparing valuations, applications for payment, variations and final accounts.
• Reviewing project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• Liaising with clients, developers, house builders and main contractors.
• Building and maintaining relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Supporting the successful commercial delivery of residential groundworks projects.

Quantity Surveyor - Groundworks / Housing

Location - Liverpool

Salary/Package - £45,000 - £70,000 + Excellent Benefits Package

About the Company

Our client is an established specialist contractor operating within the groundworks and civil engineering sector, with extensive experience delivering groundworks packages for residential and housing developments.

The business works closely with house builders, developers, and main contractors, delivering high-quality groundworks solutions across a range of residential schemes. With continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Liverpool.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of groundworks packages across residential and housing projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing the commercial performance of allocated groundworks projects
• Preparing and monitoring CVRs, forecasts, and cost reports
• Managing subcontract procurement and supplier accounts
• Preparing valuations, applications for payment, variations, and final accounts
• Reviewing project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities
• Working closely with site and project teams to monitor delivery and financial performance
• Managing commercial documentation and contractual requirements
• Liaising with clients, developers, house builders, and main contractors
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
• Supporting the successful commercial delivery of residential groundworks projects

The Ideal Candidate

The successful Quantity Surveyor will have:

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction
• Groundworks experience is essential
• Strong experience within residential / housing projects
• Experience working for a groundworks subcontractor would be highly advantageous
• Strong knowledge of cost control, forecasting, valuations, and final accountsExperience managing subcontractor accounts and procurementGood understanding of construction contractsStrong commercial awareness and negotiation skillsExcellent communication and organisational abilitiesGood Microsoft Excel and IT skillsRelevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification
