Job summary

NY Highways in North Yorkshire is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage costs, forecasts and budgets across highway projects. You will work closely with Project Managers, NEC colleagues, clients and design teams to deliver value and ensure commercial success.

The role offers flexible depot offices across the county with regular travel to Northallerton and project sites. A driving licence is essential and membership of a professional body is encouraged.

Qualifications

  • HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
  • Experience as Quantity Surveyor, preferably in highways or infrastructure.
  • Membership of, or willingness to work towards, a professional body (RICS/CIOB/ICESA).
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management qualities.

This role offers flexibility to work from any NY Highways depot office across the county, with regular travel to Northallerton and project sites throughout North Yorkshire. A full UK driving licence is essential.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a commercially minded professional who enjoys solving problems, building relationships and delivering results. You'll ideally have:

  • HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Quantity Surveying experience, ideally within highways, civil engineering or infrastructure
  • Membership of, or willingness to work towards membership of, a professional body such as RICS, CIOB or ICESA CSCS card, or willingness to obtain one
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilitiesA collaborative approach and the ability to build strong working relationships
  • A commitment to health and safety, quality, environmental standards and continuous improvement
