Job summary

Skilled Careers in Ipswich is seeking a commercially minded Project Surveyor to join a leading main contractor on a portfolio of new build education and commercial projects up to £40m. You will take commercial responsibility from procurement through final account, with a salary up to £80,000 plus a comprehensive package.

You’ll work closely with project teams to manage subcontract packages, valuations, cost reporting and final accounts, while maintaining strong client and subcontractor

Qualifications

• Commercially aware project surveyor/quantity surveyor with main contractor experience.
• Experience on new build education, commercial or similar projects.
• Organised and commercially driven with ability to take ownership.
• Strong client and subcontractor relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial aspects of projects from start to finish.
• Procurement and management of subcontract packages.
• Preparing and managing valuations, variations and payment applications.
• Cost reporting and forecasting.
• Managing subcontractor accounts and payments.
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
• Providing commercial/contractual advice to the project team.

An established and highly regarded main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Project Surveyor to join its growing team in Ipswich.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of new build education and commercial projects, with individual project values reaching up to £40 million.

The Role

As Project Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for projects from procurement through to final account, working closely with the project management and site teams to ensure successful commercial delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the commercial aspects of projects from start to completion

• Procurement and management of subcontract packages

• Preparing and managing valuations, variations and payment applications

• Cost reporting and forecasting

• Managing subcontractor accounts and payments

• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities

• Supporting the project team with commercial and contractual advice

• Working towards successful project delivery, maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships

• Preparing and agreeing final accounts

About You

We are looking for a commercially aware Project Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor with experience working for a main contractor, ideally across new build education, commercial or similar projects.

You will need to be organised, commercially driven and confident working with both internal teams and external stakeholders. The ability to take ownership of your projects while working collaboratively with the wider team is essential.
