Job summary

Taylor Woodrow, a leading contractor, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the HS2 Old Oak Common Station project in West London. You will manage costs, forecast finances, and oversee subcontractor payments to ensure commercial success.

You will collaborate with project teams to provide accurate reporting, assess commercial risks, and drive value through effective cost control. This role requires NEC knowledge and strong stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Strong experience as a Quantity Surveyor on major infrastructure or rail projects.
• Proven ability in cost reporting, payment processes, and commercial governance.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed cost analysis and reporting across project activities.
• Monitor expenditure against budgets and forecasts.
• Produce and maintain cost reports, valuations and forecasts.
• Manage subcontractor accounts from procurement through final account.
• Review and process subcontractor payment applications.
• Resolve payment queries and commercial issues promptly.
• Support contractual administration and NEC contract compliance.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and assist in mitigation.
• Collaborate with operations to maximise project performance.
• Assist with change management and compensation events when required.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure project at Old Oak Common Station, one of the flagship stations being delivered as part of the HS2 programme in West London.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile project and play a key role in the commercial management of works, with a strong focus on cost analysis, cost control, forecasting, and subcontractor management.

The successful candidate will work closely with project teams to ensure accurate commercial reporting, effective cost management, and timely resolution of payment-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed cost analysis and cost reporting across project activities.
• Monitor project expenditure against budgets and forecasts.
• Produce and maintain accurate cost reports, valuations, and financial forecasts.
• Manage subcontractor accounts from procurement through to final account.
• Review, assess, and process subcontractor applications for payment.
• Resolve subcontractor payment queries and commercial issues in a timely manner.
• Support contractual administration and ensure compliance with project procedures.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and assist in mitigation strategies.
• Work collaboratively with operational and project delivery teams to maximise project performance.
• Assist with change management and compensation event processes where required.

Requirements

• Strong experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, civil engineering, rail, infrastructure, or major projects.
• Strong background in cost analysis, cost management, and commercial reporting.
• Experience managing subcontractor accounts and payment processes.
• Confident dealing directly with subcontractors and resolving commercial/payment queries.
• Good understanding of standard construction contracts.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems.
• Previous experience working on major infrastructure or rail projects.
• Experience working within NEC forms of contract.
• Knowledge of large-scale construction projects and complex stakeholder environments.
