Job summary

Leading Edge is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor in London to oversee the commercial and financial performance of construction projects. You will manage cost planning, procurement, contract administration, valuations, and project financial performance to ensure delivery within budget.

The role requires a degree in QS or related field and at least 3 years of relevant experience, with strong knowledge of UK contracts and cost management.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant Quantity Surveying experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost management, and procurement.
  • Experience managing valuations, variations, tenders, and subcontractor accounts.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for construction projects.
  • Manage project costs, valuations, variations, and payment applications.
  • Prepare and review tenders, quotations, and subcontractor packages.
  • Support procurement and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Administer contracts and manage commercial risks and variations.
  • Prepare regular cost and commercial reports for project management.
  • Review project progress against budgets, forecasts, and agreed timelines.
  • Maintain accurate commercial documentation and records.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, commercial, and company requirements.

Position Title: Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview

Our client is a well-established construction company seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial and financial aspects of construction projects. The successful candidate will oversee cost planning, procurement, contract administration, valuations, and project financial performance while ensuring projects are delivered within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for construction projects.

Required Experience & Skills
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • Experience managing valuations, variations, tenders, and subcontractor accounts.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant cost management software.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines.
Good to Have
  • Chartered membership or working towards RICS qualification.
  • Experience with NEC, JCT, or other UK construction contracts.
  • Experience working on commercial, residential, infrastructure, or major construction projects.
  • Knowledge of UK construction regulations and commercial practices.
