Job summary

AVK-SEG is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support our Project Team in the commercial aspects of the business. The ideal candidate comes from a Mechanical and Electrical M&E contracting background and can engage with clients down to the subcontractor supply chain to reduce risk on terms, cash flows, and final accounts.

Responsibilities include contract reviews, site discussions, variations, monthly Job Costing Reports, and procurement support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Typically 5+ years of experience managing mechanical engineering projects, preferably in energy/power sectors.
  • PM certification (e.g., PMP) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve contract terms and manage commercial correspondence with legal where required.
  • Attend site meetings for contractual discussions and advise on project issues.
  • Value variations and monitor project performance.
  • Interpret project documents to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Prepare monthly Job Costing Reports and place procurement orders timely.
  • Demonstrate expertise in dispute resolution and risk management.
  • Produce cash flows and issue notices per contracts in place.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers/Engineers and place supplier/subcontractor orders.
  • Prepare and submit client applications and reconcile reports.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in managing mechanical engineering projects, preferably in the energy or power industry
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, practices, and industry standards
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes
  • Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP) is preferred
