Job summary

Vital Energi is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support a variety of projects across the North West region. You will manage financials in partnership with Contracts/Project Managers, focusing on NEC contracts and robust commercial oversight.

The role requires a BSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) and MRICS or similar membership. A full UK driving license is preferred, with salary and benefits package reflecting experience.

Qualifications

• BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• MRICS or similar professional membership.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Work with site management to develop a proactive site team and identify contractual obligations.
• Vet client-provided contract documents for compatibility with tender and negotiations.
• Create a Commercial Risk Register for each contract and implement mitigations.
• Prepare and issue enquiries for major plant/equipment and subcontract packages; vet quotations and issue purchase orders.
• Prepare and submit applications for payment and invoices; obtain certificates and progress payments.
• Measure, agree variations and loss/expense claims per contract to final accounts.
• Monitor on-site record keeping and issue notices per contract provisions.
• Prepare monthly Cost Value reconciliations and cash/spend profiles; attend contract review meetings.
• Authorise and code suppliers' and subcontractors' invoices for Finance.
• Measure and certify subcontractors' interim valuations and final accounts; issue notices.

If so, due to our continuing success, we are experiencing rapid and extensive growth across all business sectors and are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor with a successful background in construction.

You will join our Commercial team, supporting a variety of projects across the North West region.

You will support the financial management of contracts in partnership with the Contracts Managers and/or Project Managers.

What you will be doing

• Work in partnership with site management, commercially supporting sites as required, to develop a proactive site team. Ensure that contractual obligations are identified and administered.
• Vet contract documentation on receipt from the client to ensure compatibility with the Company's tender and subsequent negotiations.
• Produce a Commercial Risk Register for each contract. Monitor risk and assist in implementing agreed mitigation measures.
• Prepare and issue enquiries for major plant and equipment and subcontract packages. Vet quotations commercially and negotiate prices and terms with vendors. Issue resultant purchase orders.
• Prepare and submit applications for payment and/or invoices, obtain payment certificates and progress client payments in accordance with contractual provisions.
• Measure, submit and agree variations, loss and expense claims and/or compensation events in accordance with contractual provisions to facilitate prompt agreement of final accounts.
• Monitor on-site record keeping. Prepare and issue notices in accordance with contractual provisions.
• Prepare and submit monthly Cost Value Reconciliations and Cash/Spend Profiles. Attend Contract Review Meetings.
• Authorise and code suppliers' and subcontractors' invoices and submit them to Finance for payment.
• Measure, certify and agree subcontractors' interim valuations and final accounts. Prepare and issue contractual notices to subcontractors.

Who we are looking for

• A Quantity Surveyor with a successful construction portfolio.
• Good knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Educated to BSc level in Quantity Surveying (or another equivalent commercially related discipline).
• Membership of a professional institution (e.g. MRICS or similar).
• Knowledge of, and working experience within, Mechanical and Electrical services and/or utilities.
• Ability to demonstrate strong commercial awareness and acumen.
• Full UK manual driving licence.
