Job summary

Premier Technical Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor for a Derby-based role. Salary around £60k with car allowance and generous benefits, joining a leading provider of integrated systems and services in infrastructure projects.

You will review and negotiate client contracts, manage NEC contract changes, prepare quotes, and draft subcontracts while mitigating risks through effective administration. Strong communication and a collaborative approach are essential.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or at least 4 years of comparable experience in an engineering/technical environment.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body is advantageous.
  • Live within a commutable radius of Derby.
  • Extensive knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3 & NEC4) with a good track record of their application in infrastructure or technology projects.

  • Develop relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.

Overview

Quantity Surveyor – Derby based. Salary c£60k, car allowance + generous benefits.

Our client is a market leader in the provision of innovative and bespoke integrated systems and offers a range of high‑quality services that encompass Project Management, Implementation, Consultancy and Software Development. With a continued programme of strategic growth they are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to complement their Supply Chain team.

Responsibilities
  • Review and negotiate terms of new client contracts, manage and administer existing contracts.
  • Manage and implement contractual changes using EWN and Compensation event processes.
  • Manage and issue quotes for instructions and create/manage client payment applications.
  • Draft and negotiate subcontracts and undertake associated administration, including change management to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams to resolve commercial issues and support decision‑making processes.
  • Provide guidance on contract interpretation and application, ensuring compliance with NEC principles.
  • Work across all projects within the business to help achieve successful delivery of varied projects within the infrastructure industry.

  • Appropriate degree in Quantity Surveying or at least 4 years of comparable experience in an engineering and technical environment.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body is distinctly advantageous.
  • Live within a commutable radius of Derby.
  • Extensive knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3 & NEC4) with a good track record of their application in infrastructure or technology projects.
  • Sound working knowledge of construction and contract law and various Conditions of Contract (primarily NEC, with occasional exposure to JCT, etc.).
  • Excellent IT skills – proficiency in the MS Office suite including Excel and Word is essential.
  • Strong client and supplier communication and negotiation skills at senior levels.
  • Strong team player, adaptable and able to juggle a range of tasks while meeting schedules and deadlines.
