Job summary

PSR Solutions are advising on a Quantity Surveyor role for flagship logistics and distribution centre developments across the UK. The successful candidate will manage the commercial lifecycle from pre-construction through to final accounts, ensuring value for money and programme adherence.

They will produce budgets, cost plans and CVRs, while negotiating with subcontractors and clients. A degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying is essential, with proven main contractor experience.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or related construction discipline.
• Proven experience with a main contractor on large-scale industrial/logistics projects.
• Strong understanding of contract forms (JCT/NEC).
• Excellent commercial awareness and ability to manage multiple work packages.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full commercial lifecycle of major logistics and distribution centre projects.
• Prepare, monitor and report budgets, forecasts and cost plans.

Quantity Surveyor

Major Logistics & Distribution Centre Projects

Our client is a leading Tier 1 main contractor delivering large-scale industrial, logistics and distribution developments across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Build Division, supporting the successful commercial delivery of major logistics hubs, warehousing and distribution centre projects.

Reporting directly to the Managing QS, you will play a key role in managing the commercial aspects of projects from pre-construction through to final account, ensuring schemes are delivered on programme, within budget and to the highest commercial standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full commercial lifecycle of major logistics and distribution centre projects.
• Prepare, monitor and report project budgets, forecasts and cost plans.
• Procure subcontractor packages, including tender analysis, negotiations and contract award recommendations.
• Administer subcontract accounts, including valuations, variations, payments and final accounts.
• Prepare monthly cost value reconciliations (CVRs), commercial reports and forecasts for senior management.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities, implementing strategies to maximise project profitability.
• Work closely with the project delivery team to monitor progress against programme and manage the financial impact of project changes.
• Negotiate and agree variations with both clients and subcontractors.
• Ensure contractual compliance and provide commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and the wider project team.
• Support value engineering initiatives and procurement strategies to drive cost efficiencies without compromising quality.
• Assist with cash flow management and ensure timely recovery of project revenue.
• Contribute to successful project handovers and agreement of final accounts.

Requirements

• Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
• Proven experience working for a main contractor on large-scale industrial, logistics, warehouse or distribution centre projects.
• Strong understanding of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
• Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to manage multiple work packages simultaneously.
• Experience producing CVRs, cost reports, forecasts and commercial presentations.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across commercial, operational and design teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management systems.
