Job summary

MMP Consultancy Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team in Hoxton, London. The role leads the commercial delivery of projects from pre-construction to final account, maximising profitability and managing commercial risk.

You will develop budgets, forecasts and cash flows; administer JCT/NEC contracts; procure subcontractor packages; and prepare valuations and final accounts.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Quantity Surveying within the UK construction industry.
• Minimum 3 years' experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level.
• Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
• Extensive experience in subcontract procurement and management.
• Experience working in a Design & Build environment.
• Excellent commercial awareness and financial acumen.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account.
• Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, cost plans, and cash flow projections.
• Administer contracts under JCT, NEC, and other relevant forms of contract.
• Procure and manage subcontract packages, including tender analysis and subcontract awards.
• Prepare and submit valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
• Manage variations, compensation events, and contractual claims.
• Produce and review monthly CVR reports.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
• Support project teams in delivering projects safely, efficiently, and profitably.
• Provide commercial advice to project teams and senior management.
• Lead negotiations with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure accurate and timely commercial reporting.
• Mentor and develop Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
• Support tendering, bid submissions, and pre-construction activities.
• Drive continuous improvement and commercial best practice across the business.

• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• CSCS Card.
• Strong understanding of UK construction contracts and commercial practice.
• MRICS, MCIOB, or working towards professional chartership.
