Job summary

The FR Group in Coventry is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial side of major industrial projects from pre-construction through completion, collaborating with the project team, client, consultants and supply chain.

You will manage commercial performance, cost planning, forecasting, procurement, subcontract management, valuations, variations and final accounts, while mentoring junior staff and mitigating commercial risk.

Qualifications

• Requires proven senior QS experience.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management.
• Experience delivering large industrial schemes with Tier 1 contractor exposure.

Job description

You will take a senior role in managing the commercial and contractual performance of projects from pre-construction through to completion, working closely with the project team, client, consultants and supply chain.

• Managing the commercial performance of major projects
• Cost planning, forecasting and financial reporting
• Procurement and subcontract management
• Preparing and reviewing valuations, variations and final accounts
• Managing commercial risk and contractual obligations
• Leading commercial negotiations with clients and subcontractors
• Providing commercial advice to the wider project team
• Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff
• Ensuring projects are delivered in line with agreed commercial targets
• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor
• Strong experience within Industrial & Logistics (I&L)
• Experience delivering large warehouses, sheds, distribution centres or similar industrial schemes
• Experience working for a Tier 1 Main Contractor
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management
• Proven experience managing subcontractors, variations, valuations and final accounts
• Excellent commercial, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills
• A relevant degree or professional qualification is desirable

Candidates without direct I&L experience will also be considered where they have a strong background delivering large-scale, complex construction projects.
