Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to work with Transportation on CAM. Based in East Anglia, with projects around Marks Tey, you will join an award-winning team delivering rail renewals, improvements and earthworks across transport networks.

In this role you will prepare valuations, manage cost reports, procurement schedules and subcontractor accounts, administer contract changes, and identify commercial risks and opportunities while supporting final accounts and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a commercial role such as Assistant QS or QS.
  • Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.
  • Knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract; NEC preferable together with Standard Methods of Measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in internal commercial reporting and other required reports.
  • Prepare valuations/payments with full documentation per contract.
  • Manage cost reports to the client with contractually compliant documentation.
  • Prepare and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from detailed requisitions to final accounts.
  • Undertake contract administration including change management and registers.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
  • Use cost allocation/coding to satisfy internal and external requirements.
  • Measure quantities in accordance with standard methods of measurement.

A day in the life of a Murphy Quantity Surveyor
  • Aid in the internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.
  • Prepare Valuations/Applications for Payment with full documentation in accordance with the contract
  • Control of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant documentation
  • Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
  • Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring, and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts
  • Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
  • Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change
  • Use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements.
  • Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of project final accounts.
HND/Degree qualification
  • Proven experience within a Commercial role i.e., Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, or a similar role.
  • Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.
  • Knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract, NEC preferable together with Standard Methods of Measurement
