Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to work with Energy on GGP from Norwich to Tilbury, based at Holton-St-Mary, Colchester. The role focuses on commercial reporting, valuations, cost control, subcontract administration and final accounts.

You will need proven experience in a commercial role (Assistant QS or QS), be registered with RICS/ICES and working towards chartership; strong knowledge of NEC contracts and standard methods of measurement is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a Commercial role i.e., Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor.
  • Registered with RICS/ICES and working towards chartership.
  • Excellent knowledge of NEC contracts and Standard Methods of Measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in internal commercial reporting and other required reports.
  • Prepare valuations/applications for payment with full documentation per contract.
  • Control of cost reports to client with contractually compliant documentation.
  • Prepare and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from requisitions to final accounts.
  • Undertake contract administration including change management and registers.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
  • Use cost allocation/coding to satisfy internal and external requirements.
  • Measure quantities per standard methods of measurement.
  • Assist in preparation of project final accounts.
  • Draft subcontracts including professional services.

A day in the life of a Murphy Quantity Surveyor
  • Aid in the internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.
  • Prepare Valuations/Applications for Payment with full documentation in accordance with the contract
  • Control of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant documentation
  • Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
  • Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring, and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts
  • Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
  • Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change
  • Use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements.
  • Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of project final accounts.
  • Drafting of subcontracts including professional services.
