Job summary

Matchtech is seeking two Quantity Surveyors to join a Water Civils contractor in the Midlands. Hybrid role based out of Burntwood and Mansfield, handling cost management across the lifecycle and ensuring projects stay within budget.

Ideal candidates hold a UK degree in Quantity Surveying/Engineering, 3-5 years civil infrastructure experience, NEC contracts knowledge, driving licence, and water/wastewater project exposure. Hybrid Midlands offices support this role.

Qualifications

• UK degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering (UK)
• 3-5 years relevant experience in civil infrastructure
• Experience in NEC contracts in the UK is essential
• Strong commercial focus
• Full clean UK driving license
• Previous water/wastewater or clean water project experience
• Member of the relevant professional institution

Responsibilities

• Maintaining good relations with clients and their representatives.
• Representing the company's interests at meetings relating to the work under their control.
• Supporting staff to perform commercial/contractual duties as necessary.
• Liaising with other departments to improve information flow within Commercial/Financial departments.
• Prepare monthly, interim and final valuations, payment applications, cost reconciliations, and certification for contracts, sub-contractors and suppliers.
• Provide information for regular cash flow reviews and contract position.
• Recovery of monies due for work performed.
• With Procurement Manager, place supplier agreements and sub-contracts.
• Provide support, guidance, training and mentorship to the commercial team.
• Perform other related tasks as required

Job description

Our Water Civils contractor client is seeking two Quantity Surveyors to be based out of their Midlands offices supporting Water projects on a permanent basis.

The role will be based out of Midlands offices which include Burntwood and Mansfield on a hybrid basis.

You will be responsible for managing and controlling costs throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. You will ensure projects stay within budget, resources are effectively utilised, and all parties comply with contractual obligations. You are critical to the success of all projects, serving as the financial guardian and ensuring that costs are well-managed without sacrificing quality.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining good relations with clients and their representatives.
• Representing the Company's interest at meetings held relating to the work under their control.
• Supporting staff to perform commercial/contractual duties as necessary.
• Liaising with other departments to provide information to improve the service provided and received by the Commercial / Financial Departments
• Preparation of monthly, interim and final valuations, applications for payment, reconciliations of valuations and costs, and certification of amounts for contract, sub-contractors, specialists and suppliers.
• Providing the necessary information to enable an accurate and regular review of cash flow and position on contracts to be maintained.
• Recovery of all monies to which the Company is entitled in return for all work undertaken.
• In conjunction with the Procurement Manager, placing of supplier agreements and sub-contracts on work under the Quantity Surveyor's control.
• Providing support, guidance, training and mentorship to develop the commercial team.
• Other related tasks as required

Skills/experience/qualifications

• A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying/Engineering (or similar) from a UK University to support your competency in the role.
• 3 - 5 years relevant experience required.
• Must have experience in supporting civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong Commercial Focus.
• Experience in NEC Contracts in UK is essential.
• Full Clean UK Driving License
• Previous experience working on water projects - wastewater/clean water
• A member of the relevant Professional Institution
