Job summary

Lanesra Technical Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a Commercial Manager to oversee the commercial management of Severn Trent Water projects in the UK. The role reports to the Managing Quantity Surveyor and emphasizes cost control, contractual notices and subcontract management.

We are seeking candidates with a degree in a construction discipline, NEC3/4 experience and a track record of leading a small team. Part-time or full-time hours are considered, with hybrid working available.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in a construction related discipline.
• Working towards or chartered membership of a recognised institution.
• Experience in utilities/civil engineering/MEICA sectors.
• NEC3 and/or NEC4 experience.
• Experience managing and developing a small team.
• Part time or full time hours considered.

Responsibilities

• Quantity surveying duties and cost control for projects and work packages.
• Liaise with design, construction and supply chain to capture and control costs.
• Collaborate with client to meet business requirements.
• Manage main contract, notices and correspondence.
• Prepare and issue subcontract documentation.
• Assist in managing subcontractors.
• Prepare and agree applications for payment.
• Produce project cost & value reports, budgets and forecasts.
• Support development of junior commercial staff.
• Engage in CPD and stay updated on industry changes.

Location: Derby/Severn Trent region with hybrid working available

Salary: £55-65k (Neg DOE), car/allowance (dependent upon level) and excellent benefits package

The Role

Our client is delivering on behalf of Severn Trent Water one of the largest and more varied water infrastructure improvement programmes in the UK.

You will report directly to the Managing Quantity Surveyor and you will be expected to take responsibility for the Commercial Management of Project(s).

Responsibilities

• Quantity surveying duties in respect of managing projects and work packages
• Liaise with design, construction and supply chain teams to capture, analyse and control cost
• Collaborative work with the client to ensure business requirements are met
• Manage the main contract ensuring contractual notices and correspondence are identified and raised as necessary
• Preparation and issue of subcontract documentation
• Assist in the management and performance of subcontractors
• Manage the preparation and agreement of applications for payment
• The preparation of project cost & value reports, budgets and forecasts.
• Assist in the management and development of junior commercial staff
• Ensure your own continuous professional development by participating in external networking/conferences/associations/groups, to stay current on industry changes and innovations.
• Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
• Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role

Experience
