Job summary

Lancer Scott in Bristol seeks a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager to strengthen project cost controls and tender support. You will review budgets, work with site managers and clients, and oversee forecasting across multiple live projects.

The role requires analytical thinking, detailed cost analysis, and willingness to travel to sites. A UK-based QS/Commercial degree is preferred, with strong stakeholder skills.

  • A sound knowledge and experience of project cost and commercial management.
  • Excellent attention to detail especially when working with costs and measurements.
  • Organise, plan and prioritise to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain a network of professional relationships.
  • Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
  • Construction estimating experience within the UK construction or facilities management industry.

Responsibilities

  • Review construction plans, providing detailed quantity and cost requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including site managers, clients, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Manage a number of live projects providing senior level support to site based staff and oversee the validation, valuation and forecasting process.
  • Support the pre-construction tender process and complete labour loading and pricing schedules as required across the team, depending on workload.
  • Estimating and WIP support to ensure an up to date financial position is available and clear at any given time.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, analysis, contracts, budgets, risk assessments, and other essential documents.
  • Document changes in design promptly, updating budgets to reflect modifications accurately.
  • Establish and foster professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders to facilitate effective project execution.
  • Travel to various sites as required to oversee project progress and address on-site challenges.

What is the main purpose of this role?

Contribute to the success of a range of projects ranging in value and sector with a specialism in refurb, fit out and rehabilitation work. You'll need to have strong analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail to enhance our project management capabilities. You will play a key role in analysing budgets, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring the successful execution of a variety of projects.
