Job summary

Vital Energi is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join the Commercial team, supporting projects across the North West Region. You will manage financial aspects of contracts, working with Contracts Managers and Project Managers to uphold commercial integrity and profitability.

The ideal candidate holds a BSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) and is MRICS or working towards membership, with knowledge of NEC contracts and experience in mechanical/electrical services or utilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction projects and commercial management.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and contract administration.
• Solid understanding of cost control and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with site management to support commercial activities on site.
• Vet contract documentation to ensure compatibility with tender terms.
• Produce and maintain Commercial Risk Registers and mitigation plans.
• Issue and evaluate POs for Major Plant, equipment and sub-contracts.
• Prepare Applications for Payment and monitor progress and payments.
• Manage variations, loss and expense, and compensation events per contract terms.
• Maintain on-site cost/value reconciliations and issue cost reports.
• Issue notices and ensure contractual compliance for sub-contractors.
• Certify interim valuations and final accounts for sub-contractors.

If so, due to continuing success, we are experiencing rapid and extensive growth in all business sectors, and we are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor with a successful background in the world of Construction.

You will join our Commercial team supporting a variety of projects covering the North West Region.

You will support financial management of Contracts, in partnership with the Contracts Managers and/ or Project Managers.

What you will be doing:

• Work in partnership with site management, commercially supporting sites as required, to develop a proactive site team. Ensuring that contractual obligations are identified and administered.
• Vet contract documentation on receipt from Client to ensure compatibility with the Companys Tender and subsequent negotiations
• Produce Commercial Risk Register for each contract. Monitor risk and assist in implementation of agreed mitigation measures
• Prepare and issue enquiries for Major Plant & Equipment and Sub-Contract packages. Vet quotations commercially and negotiate price and terms with vendors. Issue resultant Purchase Orders
• Prepare and submit Applications for Payment and/or Invoices, obtain Payment Certificates and progress Client Payments in accordance with contractual provisions
• Measure, submit and agree Variations, Loss & Expense and/or Compensation Events in accordance with contractual provisions to facilitate prompt agreement of Final Accounts
• Monitor on-site record keeping. Prepare and issue Notices in accordance with contractual provisions
• Prepare and submit monthly Cost Value Reconciliations and Cash/Spend Profiles. Attend Contract Review Meetings
• Authorisation and coding of Suppliers and Sub-Contractors Invoices and submission to Finance for payment
• Measure, certify and agree Sub-Contractors interim valuations and final accounts. Prepare and issue contractual notices to Sub-Contractors

Who we are looking for:

• A quantity surveyor who has a successful construction portfolio
• Good knowledge of NEC Contracts
• Educated to BSc in Quantity Surveying (or other equivalent commercially related discipline)
• Member of Profession Institution (e.g. MRICS or similar)
• Have knowledge and working experience of Mechanical / Electrical services and/ or utilities
• Full UK manual driving licence
