Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading construction business delivering planned maintenance and refurbishment for social housing clients. The role focuses on external planned works and the commercial management of contracts around £2m per year.

The successful candidate will manage costs, budgets, valuations, variations, and final accounts, build strong client and subcontractor relationships, and report to senior management while visiting sites

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within planned maintenance/refurbishment.
• Experience delivering planned works programmes for social housing contracts.
• Proven ability to manage costs, budgets, valuations, variations and final accounts.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial performance of planned maintenance contracts from start through to completion.
• Take responsibility for contracts with an annual value of approximately £2m.
• Manage costs, budgets, valuations, variations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Monitor project expenditure and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Prepare and maintain accurate cost reports and forecasts.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, valuations and payments.
• Review and agree variations and additional works.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure commercial targets are achieved.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
• Attend client and project meetings where required.
• Undertake regular site visits to monitor progress and support the commercial delivery of works.
• Ensure contractual and commercial processes are followed effectively.
• Provide accurate financial information and reporting to senior management.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an established construction business delivering planned maintenance and refurbishment programmes across a range of social housing clients.

The role will focus predominantly on external planned works, with responsibility for the commercial management of contracts valued at approximately £2m per annum.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with a strong planned maintenance background who is looking to take ownership of a contract and play a key role in its commercial performance.

About You

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with proven planned maintenance experience, ideally gained within a Tier 1/Tier 2 contractor delivering planned works programmes.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience working for aTier 1/Tier 2 contractor delivering planned works programmes.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within planned maintenance / refurbishment.
• Experience working across social housing contracts.
• Knowledge of external planned works and refurbishment programmes.
• Experience managing contracts of around £2m.
• Strong commercial and financial management skills.
• Experience managing subcontractors, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to work independently while working closely with operational and senior management teams.
• A willingness to work 5 days per week in the office or on site.
• A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to undertake regular site visits
