Job summary

Balfour Beatty VINCI is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join the Commercial team on site around Birmingham for the HS2 programme. The role focuses on developing and implementing contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes to support on-site delivery.

You should hold a BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent), with civils/infrastructure experience and membership to RICS/ICES/CIOB preferred.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (Desired).
• Previous civils/infrastructure project experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office.

Responsibilities

• Assists in BBV commercial position by developing and implementing an in-depth knowledge of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes relating to contracts.
• Reporting to a Project Manager or Commercial Manager for relevant commercial aspects of a section of a project.
• Develops knowledge of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes and supports delivery teams.
• Demonstrates and maintains a high level of commercial and technical knowledge to meet business and customer needs.

Balfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build 90km West Midlands stretch of HS2 - Britain’s new high speed railway. Our work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join us - we’re at peak construction with work really ramping up on a broad range of assets including bridges, tunnels and viaducts. Plus you’d join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Quantity Surveyor within the Commercial team. This role will be based on site in locations around Birmingham, West Midlands.

Role description

Assists in BBV commercial position by developing and implementing an in-depth knowledge of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes relating to contracts.

• Reporting to a Project Manager or Commercial Manager for relevant commercial aspects of a section of a project.
• In depth knowledge and experience of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes.
• Effective client relationship management to encourage smooth commercial progression of the contract(s).
• Demonstrates and maintains a high level of commercial and technical knowledge and works closely with the delivery team to develop techniques and solutions to meet business and customer needs.

Experienced required

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent.
• Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (Desired).
• Previous experience working in a civils/infrastructure project as a Quantity Surveyor.
• Use of Microsoft software and in particular a good understanding of excel.

About Balfour Beatty VINCI

Balfour Beatty VINCI is a long-established joint venture between two powerhouses for the delivery of critical infrastructure across rail, transport and other iconic projects in the UK and beyond. We started working together over 30 years ago to deliver the Channel Tunnel, as members of the TransManche Link consortium. Overall, we will be building the following across all our sites:

• 9.3km of viaducts
• 62 overbridges
• 35 cuttings
• 56 culverts
• 62 embankments
• 2 twin bore tunnels and 2 cut and cover tunnels
• 28 underbridges and 11 underpasses
